Coyne Graphic Finishing: Members working with Members

Published in: PIANKO's The Communicator
September 2007

Coyne Graphic Finishing has been a member of PIANKO and one of its predecessor associations, PICO, since January of 1979. At that time they were Coyne Printing and Finishing owned by Robert and Alice Coyne. In 1990, son Kevin Coyne purchased the company and by 1993 had dropped the printing, changed the focus to serve the trade, and became Coyne Graphic Finishing.

Kevin is very involved in the association serving on both the Central Advisory Council and the Board of Directors. "Coyne has benefited from the resources provided by PIANKO through two generations. They keep us on the cutting edge of new developments in the printing industry. This allows us to anticipate the current and future needs of our clients in an ever-changing environment. In addition, the friendship and camaraderie among industry piers is priceless," states Coyne.

In keeping with that "ever-changing environment," Coyne has strived to answer the needs of their client and the industry. They recently added a new affixing/tipping system and in a direct response to one of their customers, they will be installing a new turned-edge process, which includes the addition of 9 machines. This process is used in merchandising and creating presentation/sample books as well as game boards and many other items. This equipment should be up and running this fall.

Coyne works with many member companies in Ohio and Northern Kentucky as well as companies in Michigan, New York, Indiana and Pennsylvania. With a full-time staff of thirty, Coyne has also built up a pool of up to fifty temporary additional employees they can add at any given time. The staff along with their broad capabilities is why they can boast, "We don't say No!" Just ask Rick Lenhard from PIANKO member company Marketing Services by Vectra. "We have a very large and complete bindery; however, we get into some complicated and unique projects at times. When this occurs, we contact Coyne Graphic Finishing because they are problem solvers." Lenhard goes on to say "At times, projects are so intricate, we involve Coyne with the customer at the very beginning to see if the design can even be completed. They represent us very well and work hard on everything they do. I do a lot of business from coast to coast and Coyne epitomizes the best work ethic out there!"

Coyne has 60,000 square feet full of finishing equipment including Large Format Die-Cutting, Mechanical Binding, Folding, Gluing, Tinning, Tip-on, Mounting, Routing and just about anything else you can imagine. They are located centrally in Mount Vernon Ohio - less than two hours from Cleveland and Cincinnati. Their multiple Print Excellence, Benny and Craftsman Club awards are displayed proudly in their building and are a prime example of their quality services. For a complete list of their capabilities, visit www.coynefinishing.com or give them a call at (800) 395-8875. Think you have a job that can't be done - check with Coyne, they don't like to say no.
