Marketers
love to pull out all the stops when it comes to getting a product or
service noticed by consumers. As a result, POP (point-of-purchase)
displays can take a near-limitless range of shapes, sizes, materials
and designs.

At Coyne Graphic
Finishing, our large-format die-cutting, mounting, CNC routing and
related services are geared toward offering you and your customers “no
limits” POP production. Here are a few design ideas and tips to help
get you started:

The Basics

Point-of-purchase
displays are typically comprised of two pieces: a graphic sheet and a
backing substrate. During production, the sheet is mounted to the
backer with adhesive, and is then die-cut into the desired shape. If
the display is self-standing, a single- or double-wing easel will need
to be attached.

Design Possibilities

The
design of your display should strike a balance between eye appeal and
functionality. A POP display that’s designed to simply drive traffic to
a specific product or area of the store may include eye-catching
graphics and an intricate die-cut to grab attention. On the other hand,
a display that will hold products or literature in a pocket can include
a tipped-on easel that allows it to stand on a counter or table.

There
are also several design configurations for forming a capacity pocket.
For example, a pocket formed from acrylic can be applied to the display
using pressure-sensitive adhesive. The range of products your display
can hold is limited only by the size of the pocket and the strength of
the backing substrate and easel.

Large Format, Small Format

Large
format POP displays, such as standees, signs and posters, are typically
created from thicker backing substrates such as Fome-Cor, SBS or
corrugated board. Some of these backing substrates are even
weather-proof for exterior use. Large-format displays often require an
easel that’s manufactured separately and tipped on for additional
strength.

Small-format displays
such as shelf talkers, placards and table tents don’t often require as
thick a backing substrate as large-format pieces. Easels for
small-format pieces can also be die-cut into the backing substrate,
rather than tipped on as they typically are for large-format pieces.

The Coyne Advantage

At
Coyne Graphic Finishing, our specialized large-format POP display
capabilities are among the most comprehensive available. Our
newly-installed 65” x 120” die cutting machine was custom-made for
high-quality, fast-turnaround large-format POP display production. We
can even perform computerized CNC routing for displays manufactured
from ultra-thick materials such as plywood, styrene, acrylic and more.
