Three Under-the-Radar Processes

When you consider the services you need from a binding and finishing provider, you likely focus on core capabilities such as die cutting, mounting, mechanical binding, folding/gluing and others. But there are many other lesser-known, “under-the-radar” processes that can add substantial value to a product by allowing for an additional feature, an unusual format size or simply faster production. Here are three such services you’ll find at Coyne Graphic Finishing:

High-Die Cutting
Small-format products such as coupon books and labels are often laid out multiple-up on a large press sheet and die-cut on large-format die presses. However, some applications are more efficiently produced using high-die cutting. In this process, a circumferential cut is made to a stack of products. At Coyne, our high-die cutting services can cut membership cards, hang tags, coupons, game pieces and more from 1” x 1” up to 6” x 6”.

Collating
For most applications, collating is a “bridge” process that’s largely invisible in the finished product. However, collating can get quite complex when a project includes multiple versions, inserts and stocks. The large-format collating capabilities at Coyne allow you to mix and match a range of stocks (up to 50pt. board) into your pieces.

Counting and Numbering
These two services often go hand-in-hand for applications such as coupon books and game pieces. Our laser counting capabilities ensure an exact, pre-determined quantity of sheets is included in your finished products. And our high-speed numbering equipment can individualize your products while placing minimal impact on workflow.

Planning Tip – When planning a project for high-die cutting, keep in mind that only a perimeter or circumferential cut can be performed. If the design of your pieces calls for a portion to be knocked out within the finished piece, it will likely need to be die-cut using a different process.
