Die Cutting Planning Tips

Die cutting is one of the most useful tools in a designer’s bag of tricks, as it helps bring projects to life. Whether the product is as simple as a presentation folder or as complex as a large-format point-of-purchase display, good planning allows Coyne Graphic Finishing to help you execute the best possible die-cut. Here are a few planning tips to keep in mind:
Submit die files early: As soon as your design is complete, send us your die files along with a printed proof. Your files should be free of graphics or text, leaving only the lines that will be used to create the die. By sending us your files early in your project’s production cycle, we will have the chance to check them for accuracy, compare computer files to physical proofs and create an aggressive production schedule.
No memory? If planning to mount your die cut project to create a sturdy display, specify either memory or non-memory Fome-Cor. Memory Fome-Cor will “spring” back to its original shape after die cutting, which offers the best appearance for most applications. A non-memory substrate results in a tapered edge that is excellent for knockouts and projects meant to slide into a holding device.
