Box-Pocket Folders Now the Newest Coyne Capability

While the biggest "new capability news" at Coyne has to be the recent launch of its turned-edge binding machine (see Coyne TIP for December 2007, "Coyne Adds Turned-Edge Binding to its Finishing Arsenal"), Coyne has announced the introduction of another new specialty: automated mass production of box-pocket folders.

Coyne recently acquired a Sprint Box-Pocket folder gluer. Manufactured by Moll, this system automates box-pocket folder production, gluing the gussets to the folder. Double scoring of the gusset is also available depending on the thickness of the box pocket.

For years, production folders with standard flat pockets have been automated at Coyne. Attaching box pockets for folders has been done manually. However, as demand for folders with box pockets has grown, Coyne has moved to automated production with this Sprint machine. Because of the extended set-up required for box-pocket folders, use of the Sprint machine is most economical for runs of 1,500 or more.
